WASHINGTON It’s the morning after and the controversy over how to sell emergency contraception still looms.
The Obama administration’s top health official stopped plans Wednesday to let the Plan B morningafter pill move onto drugstore shelves next to the condoms.
Overruling scientists at the Food and Drug Administration, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius decided that young girls shouldn’t be able to buy the pill on their own, saying she was worried about confusing 11yearolds.
For now, Plan B will stay behind pharmacy counters, available without a prescription only to those 17 and older who can prove their age.
It was the latest twist in a nearly decadelong push for easier access to pills that can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex, and one with electionyear implications.

HOUSTON Recruitment is ongoing at Texas Children’s Cancer Center for a Phase 1 clinical trial in children with cancer using a novel immunotherapy approach called oncolytic virus therapy.
The trial, launched last spring and led by Dr. Chrystal Louis, assistant professor of pediatric hematology/oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, is also being conducted at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

However, BabyCenter recently posted its list of the most popular baby names of 2011. At the top of the girls list of most popular names in 2011 was Sophia, while Aiden nabbed the most popular boys name spot.
